MARK WEBBER WINS THE 2010 MONACO GRAND PRIX

Australian has been on sensational form all weekend and his two great wins in quick succession put him on top of the drivers' points. Vettel takes second place to make it a Red Bull one-two but he has been unable to keep up with pace of his team mate. Robert Kubica, again on podium, taking maximum from his Renault around this challenging circuit.

11 drivers retired from the 2010 Monaco Grand Prix.

Nico Hulkenberg set the tone for today's incident-filled race when he crashed in the tunnel on the opening lap. In safety car period Jenson Button retired when his McLaren overheated. Lucas Di Grassi and Timo Glock both retired with mechanical problems. Kamui Kobayashi stopped out on track when running well inside the top five. Rubens Barrichello crashed heavily at the Massenet after a great early stint. Kovalainen and Senna retired in the pits on the same lap. De La Rosa also retired in the pits after a poor race.

At the final laps Jarno Truli and Karun Chandhok caused third Safety car period in the race. Michael Schumacher passed Alonso in final lap but that is going to be investigated by stewards.

ALONSO: WE NEED PERFECT SATURDAY

Fernando Alonso:
"I think for sure this is a circuit you need to get confidence as soon as possible. It is a circuit that you need to feel okay in the car and to maximise the potential, and it is very good to start in a good way because you don't need to go crazy or change completely the set-up or find a miracle for Saturday. You just need continuity in the set-up and the way you do your runs, and overall I think we found a car very good from the beginning and a car that was very easy to drive.

"Felipe and I were happy with our session, but we know in qualifying it will be very close, as we saw in practice. Within three tenths of a second, there are seven or eight cars, so we cannot afford any mistakes on the driver side or the set-up side."

"I think we maybe did improve a little bit compared to Barcelona, and hopefully we are not one second behind the Red Bulls. Butt we need to wait until Saturday. We have seen some strong Fridays from us and strong Fridays from McLaren, and then on Saturdays Red Bull got the pole position very easy. So we need to be clever and do a good lap on Saturday. If not you can end up sixth or seventh."

2010 MONACO GP: ALONSO FASTEST ON MORNING PRACTICE

Surprisingly times of the Ferrari cars in first free training session for Monaco Grand Prix. In previous friday sessions they never drove with so little fuel in cars, so Alonso today had the best time recorded in Monte Carlo, just slightly ahead of Sebastian Vetel and Robert Kubica. The difference between the three fastest was only 0.089 seconds. Session took place in perfect conditions. Fears that there will be chaos on the track because of the increased number of cars and the big difference in speed between the favorites and new teams have proven to be false, i.e. there were relatively few incidents.
